This description of the basic terms of classical conditioning appears in the slides on the topic of Learning, which is Exam 2 material, but is also covered in lecture briefly in reference to the hippocampus / amygdala experiment for Exam 1. It is provided here in case it's helpful in studying:

CLASSICAL CONDITIONING

- US (unconditioned stimulus - e.g., food in mouth):

  input to a reflex

- UR (unconditioned response - e.g., salivation to food):

  output of reflex

- CS (conditioned stimulus - e.g., bell): initially results

  in investigatory response, then habituation;

  after conditioning, results in CR

- CR (conditioned response): response to CS;

  measure amplitude, probability, latency
